ZF S6-40 Shifter Options:
1990-1994 ZR-1 and 1989-1994 baseline manual 6-speed Corvette are
equipped with lift-ring shifter. The lift-ring type shifter has an external
reverse lock-out mechanism physically disallowing entry into reverse gear
neutral gate until the lift-ring is pulled upwards. Due to the fact that the ZF
S6-40 reverse gear is fully synchronized and that it is possible to engage
reverse gear at 80 mph… just one time, it is advised that the reverse gear
select lockout feature not be defeated. Typical
reverse gear repair cost is $1300 with labor and shipping included.
1995 ZR-1 and 1995-1996 baseline manual ZF 6-speed Corvette are equipped with
crash-thru shifter. The crash-thru type shifter requires additional force while
shift lever travels rightward through reverse neutral gate giving a tactile
feedback warning to the operator that reverse gear is about to be engaged.
C4 Corvette ZF Modified Gear Shift Levers - Are made from OEM gear shift levers, retain the original damper feature and can be purchased through our Modified Gear Shift Lever Core Exchange Program. Modification to either type gear shift lever entails removing 1.100 inch from above the fulcrum (pivot) point and adding 0.562 inch below the fulcrum point. The component segments are held together using a custom precision alignment jig during weld assembly process to ensure optimal performance during operation. Additional guide piece shims and flange bolt are included with each modified gear shift lever.
Lift-Ring Short Throw
Shifter ($250.00) - For 1989-1994 Corvette ZF 6-speed.
Include modified draw bar and stop bolt so that the lift ring (GM P/N 10076757)
need only be transferred from original to new lift-ring shifter when installing.
Additional guide piece shims and flange bolt
included. The original lift ring shift lever
core must include the original draw bar and stop bolt when returning the core to
us.

Crash-Thru Short Throw Shifter ($180.00) - For 1995-96
Corvette ZF 6-speed or when updating earlier S6-40 shift shaft P/N 1052206028
with P/N 1052206045. Additional guide
piece shims and flange bolt included. 
$100.00 Core charge is applicable
unless prior arrangement to send in original shift lever pending installation, is
